The A4AI team is wrapping up an exciting Transform Africa 2015 in Kigali, Rwanda. For the past few days, we’ve been busy discussing ways to make Internet for all and full digital inclusion realities in Africa, together with over 2,000 policymakers, students, and representatives from the private and civil society sectors.
Some highlights from the event included Monday’s lively plenary session on “Internet for All”, moderated by our Deputy Director Kojo Boakye, and Tuesday’s closing plenary on “Digital inclusion for women’s empowerment”, which was moderated by A4AI Executive Director Sonia Jorge, and featured remarks from the First Lady of Rwanda, Mrs Jeanette Kagame, as well as a preview of the Web Foundation’s new Women’s Rights Online report Women’s Rights Research and Advocacy Coordinator Ingrid Brudvig.
Social media was abuzz throughout the event with reflections on and ideas for transforming Africa. Catch up on some event highlights, and updates on what our team has been up to in Kigali, below.
